There always a few clubs at the start of every season, who look like they can take it at the next level. Some of these clubs succeed like Manchester City, a few years ago. Some clubs fail like Atletico Madrid.

  1. Napoli

Napoli did not have any improvement from last season, but I think that next season that they will have a better season. Carlo Ancelotti is much more pragmatic than Sarri, he also had to adapt to the loss of key players like Jorghinio and Hamsik.

I think Napoli’s next season will depend a lot on how good they recruit, as they are dependent on a lot of old people like Dries Martens and Jose Callejon- both combined have contributed to 30 goals, which is around 30% of their output. They have been linked to James Rodriguez, Herving Lazano and Ismael Bannecar. These are all very good signings and would just cost about 100 million. I think that they should target one or two centre backs considering all their centre backs are 27 and above. They should target Someone Like William Saliba who is a young and upcoming centre back from Saint-Etienne.

I think that Napoli will have a much better season next season as most of these signings will make a better club. The signing of James especially will make them a much more popular club, especially in Columbia and other South American Nations where James is very influential, this statement can be proven by his Instagram following of 41.5 million, which is more than the like oh Phil Coutinho and Eden Hazard.

2. R.B Leipzig

R.B.Leipzing have one of the best Business models in the game. They were founded 10 years ago and now they are the third best side in Germany. They have also recently acquired Julian Nagullesman who is one of the best upcoming coaches in the World.

I think R.b will have a better attacking season, especially because of Julian’s amazing coaching. He squeezed every bit out of his average attacking players at Hoffenheim and considering the talent at R.B I think he will have like 19 shots at goal per 90.

The only bad thing happening at R.b is the contractual position of their star striker- Timo Werner, who contributed 23 goals this season but the leader Bayern Munich, who were in the pursuit of the forward has pushed back the signing and he looks like he is going to stay.

I think R.b will progress a lot this season and will certainly perform more in Champions league where they got out of group stage last year.

3. Lyon

Lyon has produced great talent and has one of the best academies. I have written a entire post about them, so please check that out.

Lyon recently appointed Juninho and Sylvinho in key positions at their club and they look like they will keep a few of their star players especially if they got 55 million for Mendy and look like they will sell Fekir for another 60. I think that they will certainly finish second next season.

Lyon has a very strange case as they will always have to sell players, but the real thing is their incredible academy and also their recruitment, just see the performance of Moussa Dembele who they bought from Celtic for just 20 million who has been involved in 19 goals and now is linked to Manchester United for 35 million euros.

I think they will progress this season in the champions league and will perform reasonably well in the league, they have a project of maybe 2 or 3 years.
